Threads of Purpose: A Kolkata Girl's Journey in transforming Conventional Jute to High Style"

In the heart of Kolkata, India, amidst the vibrant colors and the bustling streets, lived a middle-class girl named Sukanya Pal. Growing up in a modest neighborhood, Sukanya's childhood was steeped in the rich culture of West Bengal. However, what set her apart was her fascination with the versatile fabric that surrounded her daily life – jute.

Sukanya Pal- Our founder

From the intricately woven mats on her grandmother's floor to the sturdy bags that carried groceries, jute was an integral part of Sukanya's upbringing. She marveled at the resilience and sustainability of this natural fiber, and as she navigated through the narrow lanes of her neighborhood, she dreamt of a day when the world would appreciate the beauty and utility of jute as much as she did.

Sukanya's journey took an unexpected turn when she decided to pursue her MBA in Germany. Leaving behind the familiar sights and sounds of Kolkata, she found herself immersed in the intricate world of European corporate life. For seven years, she excelled in her career, climbing the corporate ladder and achieving success by conventional standards.

Yet, deep within, Sukanya felt a longing for something more, a yearning to reconnect with her roots and share the story of the humble jute that had been an ever-present companion in her childhood. Inspired by her memories, she embarked on a quest to bring a piece of Kolkata to Europe!

After months of introspection and research, she found the right set of highly skilled generational artisans and craftsmen in Kolkata to collaborate with. Sukanya transformed jute from a traditional, everyday material to a high-end functional & eco-conscious fashion item.

With determination and a clear vision, she left her corporate job and launched 'Jútepal' that aims to showcase uniqueness of jute. Each piece tells a story of heritage and sustainability. Sukanya wanted to challenge the perception that sustainable fashion couldn't be luxurious and desirable.

'Jútepal' is a bridge between two worlds, blending the traditional craftsmanship of West Bengal with the contemporary tastes of Europe.
